Masonary Repair

Old and crumbling mortar in your brick and stone work not only looks unsightly but can lead on to structural problems if left unatended. Older properties built without cavities can develop problems with damp and even structural problems if the repair of the mortar joints is done incorrectly. Sadly many "tradesmen" doing this type of work are unaware that special lime based mortars must be used in these types of properties. Failure to use them can lead to the mortar layer between the bricks rotting and loosing it's compressive strength which can lead to serious structural problems. I see so many properties around Bridlington that have been re-pointed incorrectly and are developing visible structural faults as a result

Old "tired" looking paved areas can often be made to look as new again by simply cleaning off the pavers and raking out the old cracked and crumbling mortar and replacing it with new without going to the expense of replacing the pavers themselves.

Does your property suffer from unsighty damaged bricks? The constant cylcles of freeze and thaw can damage even the toughest bricks after a while. Once they loose their hard facing surface they act like a sponge soaking up more water to freeze in winter untill the brick itself starts to crumble. These can easly be replaced by carefully drilling round the mortar surrounding the brick and then replacing with a new brick of similar size, pattern and colour mortared into place.
